La Cantuta
Cesar Cornejo, a peruvian artist that lives abroad more than 10 years, presented a striking installation at the new space of the art gallery Artco. The work, briefly entitled La Cantuta, was made of aproximately 60,000 black paper flowers, that covered the whole area and furniture, a space that resembled that of a classroom. But not of any classroom, but one which had nine student desks and one teachers desk, in clear reference to the nine students and a teacher of the Unversity Enrique Guzman y Valle kidnapped and killed in 1992. A black carpet made of black flowers, as the remains of a silent ritual to honour the victims of social violence: a mourning and a reminder. |
